LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles firefighters tried to talk a woman believed to be under the influence of drugs to come down from a tree in Canoga Park on Tuesday morning.
Fire officials said around 7 p.m. Monday the woman climbed 30 feet up a tree near the Lanark Recreation Center and has since refused to come down.
Police say calls were coming in saying the woman was smoking narcotics before she climbed the tree. By Tuesday morning she had been sitting in the tree for about 11 hours.
Firefighters and police tried to convince her to come down and bought her two happy meals because she said she was hungry.
Officials say the woman was not trying to harm herself and did not appear suicidal.
Firefighters put out a giant airbag in case she was to fall out of the tree.
