BUTTE — Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories has pledged $1.5 million in cash and equipment to fund the construction and operation of four power-system laboratories on the Montana Tech campus.

Matt Donnelly, department head of Electrical Engineering at Montana Tech, said the gift will be used to transform a portion of Tech's Natural Resource Research Center into a world-class laboratory focused on power-system protection and control and energy conversion.

The space will be called in Schweitzer Engineering Laboratory Power-Systems Lab and will include a protection lab, an energy conversion lab, a power plant/systems lab and a training and learning lab.
