Tucson, AZ (KGUN) — Interstate 19 is closed in both directions at Esperanza Boulevard, Saturday evening, for a criminal investigation, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
AZDPS said troopers responded to reports of shots being fired between two vehicles on northbound I-19 just after 5 p.m. A man, woman, and child were all found with gunshot wounds and were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
A suspect has been taken into custody, and AZDPS detectives are investigating the case.
All traffic is being re-routed.
Southbound traffic must exit at Duval Mine Road, and northbound traffic must exit at Continental Road.
There is no estimated time to reopen the freeway, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
