A tradition of more than 30 years brought Santa and Mrs. Claus to children in Lockwood on Saturday.
The annual tour included several stops to deliver gifts.
When the tradition started years ago, Lockwood Firefighters gave bags of apples to kids.
Now the gift bags are filled with more because of community support for the firefighters’ cause.
This Santa and Mrs. Claus have been visiting kids in Lockwood for about 15 years.
“It’s fantastic to see this community on such a happy occasion,” said Captain Karim Eshbaugh of the Lockwood Fire Department. “Those guys at Lockwood Fire, they usually see those people at their worst moments and this is a chance for them to get out to the community on a really happy occasion and that means a lot.”
“Brings them happiness to have that and to give them that goody bag or treat and be able to see Santa,” said Tammi Eshbaugh, Karim’s wife. “You can just see a difference when they come up. At first they’re shy and then they’re really happy when they get to do it.”
The normal Santa tour includes some other decorations, but firefighters had to respond to a grass fire in Lockwood.
