MISSOULA - GOP U.S. Senate candidate Matt Rosendale kicked off his campaign tour through Western Montana Thursday, starting off at Anchor Electric to showcase how he says tax cuts have been helping small businesses in the area.

The owners of Anchor Electric say that tax reform legislation has allowed their business to grow.

Anchor Electric says they have added on 10 full-time employees since the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, have acquired another firm and plan on more expansion in the future.

Rosendale says that tax reform is crucial to keeping more money in the pockets of Montanans but also thinks that government improvements can still be made with less tax money and better budgeting.

“We can find reductions in spending across the spectrum. Again, I have demonstrated the ability to do that. What you do is you take the budget and you have to take the time and effort to go through it, line-by-line, and look at things and say this is not working or is not necessary or is not the role of government and you have to make tough decisions about eliminating that spending," Rosendale said. "We believe that you reward excellence and you retrain or you replace mediocrity and if you do that and you increase your efficiencies then you will find that you can reduce the spending in government.”

Rosendale's tour of Western Montana continued into Lake County as he made stops in Kalispell and Polson Thursday before heading to Libby on Friday.
