Q2 Weather: Sunny, smoky and hot for a few more days in Billings

Posted: Updated:

BILLINGS- In Billings on Thursday, it is sunny, smoky and downright hot. It was 93 degrees at 2 p.m. and smokey.

The smoke starts in northern California with the fires, then the smoke streams up to Oregon, Washington, southern Canada then turns and comes back down in the Montana.

Plus, Montana has its own fires making smoke up in the northwest corner the state.

It's of little wonder that our air quality is starting to suffer. It is easier to tell you who has good air quality than not.

Bozeman, Big Horn County and Sheridan all are reporting good air quality. Everyone else has ticked up a notch to moderate air quality.

And take a look at this Heat Advisory across the northern half of the state. There, we could see 100 to 105 degrees, and in some places along the Missouri River Valley, 110 degrees.

For the first time in a long time, we have an excessive heat warning for Billings and southeastern Montana. This means we could see increased heat-related illnesses, such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

And with all the high winds high heat and low humidity it’s little wonder we have a fire weather watch across the Western part of the state and along the high line into Saturday night.

At the moment the Doppler radar and satellite imagery shows just a few scattered showers around the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Even the water vapor imagery satellite shows all the water vapor and showers are going up and around Montana and coming down somewhere in the Midwest leaving us as dry as California.

In fact, that’s what our high resolution forecast model a showing nothing but dry skies with plenty of sunshine all the way through Friday night at 6 p.m.

BILLINGS FORECAST
