Q2 Weather: The week starts warm and dry but does not end that way

Posted: Updated:

The first half of the week is warm and dry, and then the trend is towards cooler and wetter weather.

A quiet weather picture is developing for the next few days with a high-pressure ridge continuing to build in across the northern Rockies through Wednesday. Winds will be light, expect a clear to mostly clear sky.

High temperatures Monday will be mainly in the 30s in Eastern Montana, with the 40s to low 50s from Billings to the west and south. The warmest readings will be in the mountain foothills and northern Wyoming.

Overnight readings will be into the teens in Eastern Montana, and again a little warmer with 20s from Billings to the west and south

After reaching 49 degrees on Saturday, Billings may reach 50 for the first time this season Tuesday. The warmest readings will be Wednesday with the highs in the mid-50s around Billings, and range from the 40s to low 60s across Eastern Montana northern Wyoming.

Although the details on our next weather system are sketchy, the overall trend approaching next weekend will be for slightly cooler temperatures and a better chance of rain and snow.

Billings forecast:

Monday… Mostly sunny with a high of about 45. Light westerly wind.

Monday night… Mostly clear with a low of around 24.

Tuesday… Sunshine with a high near 51.
