GREAT FALLS - Heather Herman has been charged in Great Falls with felony assault on a minor.

Court documents state that police officers were sent to Benefis hospital on Jan. 4 for a report of a 4-year-old child who had bruising on her buttocks and hair missing from her head.

The police affidavit states that a "large portion of hair" was missing from the child's head.

The child told police that Herman had pulled her hair out, and that Herman spanks her with a hair brush.

Medical staff determined the injuries to be consistent with abuse and not accidental.

Another child living in the home also said that Herman spanks the 4-year-old with the brush.

Prosecutors requested that bond for Herman be set at $25,000, and that the court require that Herman have no contact with the 4-year-old child without approval by and supervision of a DPHHS staff member.

Herman was arrested on Jan. 28, according to court documents.
