Great Falls man wins $100K in Montana Millionaire drawing

Posted: Updated:

Terry Sargent of Great Falls claimed a $100,000 prize in the Montana Millionaire lottery drawing.

Sargent, a military retiree from Great Falls, won the prize on a Montana Millionaire ticket he bought at the Holiday Station Store on 15th Street North in Great Falls.

He found out he won right after the winning numbers were announced on December 29. But even then, it just didn’t sink in.

“We had a print-out of it from the store and we were checking my numbers against that,” he said. “I was thinking, ‘Sure would be nice.’ But I didn’t believe it.”

Sargent plays Montana Millionaire every year, but this is his first big win.

He told Montana Lottery officials that he has plans for the money: “I’ll pay off my truck, maybe buy a house,” he said. “And invest the rest.”

The 150,000 Montana Millionaire tickets sold out on December 15th, which set a record as the fastest selling for the game, which is now in its 11th year.

The million-dollar ticket was sold in Butte. There were three tickets worth $100,000 each; one was sold in Butte, and two were sold in Great Falls.

The grand prize winner has not yet come forward to claim his or her prize.
