BILLINGS - Billings architect Harrison Fagg remembers the late 1970s as a watershed moment for downtown Billings. As the city sprawled westward, many people felt the central commerce district needed -- and was ready for -- a major improvement.
Those sentiments are some that many supporters of downtown Billings would find familiar 40 years later. Today, talk of One Big Sky Center has served as a focal point for talk of what's next in downtown Billings.
Whatever comes from those discussions will inevitably follow in the footsteps of the pioneers of the Billings skyline. Fagg made his mark on that skyline in 1980, when he opened up the Sheraton Hotel, which now operates as the DoubleTree by Hilton.
