Q2 Weather: Windy now, warming this week

Posted: Updated:

On the plus side: Every day will get a little warmer through Friday. On the downside: The wind is causing problems Tuesday.

Gusty west winds will cause blowing and drifting snow Tuesday from Billings and Roundup westward. Wind gusts around Big Timber, Harlowton, and Livingston could be 45 to 55 mph.

Travel could be very difficult in spots, due to poor visibility and drifting snow on roads. Conditions should improve in the afternoon.

Overall, the trend will be for warmer and dry conditions through the end of the work week. Highs will be mainly in the 20s to around 30° Tuesday afternoon. Highs will move to the upper 30s to around 40 by Friday.

No new snow is expected until a disturbance brings us a chance of snow showers Saturday afternoon and evening.

Billings forecast:

Tuesday… Areas of blowing snow through the early afternoon. Sunny, with a high near 29. Wind chill values as cold as -15 with gusty West winds of 15 to 30 mph. Winds could gust to 40 mph.

Tuesday night… Mostly clear with a low of about 15.

Wednesday… Mostly sunny with a high temperature approaching 34. Southwest wind 10 to 20 mph.
