Q2 Weather: Snow may come and go but the wind sticks around

Posted: Updated:

The wind has not gone away yet, but warmer temperatures are beginning to arrive this week.

As a ridge of high pressure builds across the Western U.S. it will bring warming temperatures in the next few days but keep conditions breezy Wednesday and Thursday.

Wednesday’s highs will be mainly in the 30s with a mix of clouds and sun. Gusty winds and light snow in extreme eastern Montana will create some travel hazards through the afternoon.

Billings will end up in the mid to upper 30s Wednesday, with a west wind of about 15-25 mph.

Overnight readings will slip to the teens and 20s, and mostly cloudy. Breezy conditions remain from Harlowton to Livingston.

A bump in the temperatures Thursday pushes highs mainly in the 40s.  A weak disturbance coming across the area could produce a few clouds or isolated flurries with breezy to windy conditions remaining.

Highs will move mainly into the upper 40s to mid-50s on Friday and Saturday remaining generally dry. The breeze remains.

Billings forecast:

Wednesday… Mostly sunny with a high near 37. West 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph.

Wednesday night… Partly to mostly cloudy, with a low of about 25. West wind 10 to 20 mph.

Thursday… Partly sunny and warmer. A high around 48. West 15 to 30 mph with gusts possible to 40 mph.
