The owners of the Sandee’s hamburger food truck have found a permanent location on Billings South Side.

Scot and Jennifer Ireton announced Monday they have signed a one-year lease to move into the former Blondy’s burger stand at 1125 S. 27th St.

It’s a big move for the food truck operators, who said they’ve been heartened by the positive response on social media to the return of Sandee’s.

“The people have spoken, so we’ll see what happens,” Scot Ireton said.

Sandee’s will operate 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week. The Iretons hope to reopen in about a week, and they’ll continue to cook inside the truck and serve in the restaurant. They plan to expand the menu and add patio seating, Ireton said.

The Iretons launched the Sandee’s truck in 2016 with the goal of capturing the nostalgia of the original, which operated for four decades on the West End. It closed in the late 1990s.

Jennifer Ireton is the daughter of the original Sandee’s owners, Carm and Shirley Hampton.

If the new location is a hit, Ireton said he’ll explore signing an additional lease with an option to buy the building.
