Q2 Rewind: CBS Fall Promotion 1962-1963

Posted: Updated:

Q2 has carried CBS programming since the station first went on the air in 1953.

In a CBS promo reel from the fall of 1962, Dragnet's Jack Webb tells CBS viewers what to expect from new and continuing shows on CBS that fall — featuring television legends like Lucille Ball, Jackie Gleason, Red Skelton, Dennis the Menace, Rawhide, Mr. Ed, and more. The list of programming seems like a veritable who's who of stars from television's Golden Era.

That fall also gave viewers their first-ever introduction to the Beverly Hillbillies, which aired for the first time in 1962.

For various stretches of time during the station's early years, Q2 has also carried programming for other networks such as NBC, ABC and PBS.

Promos for shows from ABC like Leave it to Beaver can be seen spliced into the CBS promo reel for introduction to Q2 audiences.

Watch this video to see some old, familiar legends of the small screen.
