Q2 Weather: A cold front arrives Monday night

Posted: Updated:

Monday temperatures will be a little warmer than average for mid-November. Tuesday, wind and rain/snow showers will affect parts of the area.

Under a weak high-pressure ridge, highs today will be into the 40s to low 50s. Some areas still have snow on the ground to melt, and that will inhibit our warm-up despite plenty of afternoon sun. Winds will generally be light.

As a cold front approaches, winds will increase down the east mountain slopes Monday evening. Wind prone areas like Livingston and Nye will see wind gusts to around 55 mph Monday night and Tuesday.

Quick moving rain and snow showers will move through the area overnight through early Tuesday. The sky will begin to clear, and temperatures recover mainly to the 40s Tuesday afternoon.

Highs stay mainly in the 40s this week, with another disturbance bringing a second round of rain and snow showers through on Thursday evening.

Billings forecast:

Monday… Sunny, with a high near 51. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Monday night… Partly cloudy, with a low of about 32.

Tuesday… Scattered morning rain and snow showers, then mostly sunny in the afternoon. Around 46 for the high temperature.
