Firefighters respond to structure fire in East Helena

(UPDATE, 11 p.m.) A garage in East Helena caught on fire around 8 p.m. Saturday evening.

Emergency crews responded near 2nd Street and Groschell Street and reports indicated smoke and flames were coming from the structure.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time due to the collapse of the garage.

Firefighters were unable to gain entrance.

East Helena Fire Captain Roger Campbell is proud of everyone who helped.

"I would just like to thank the efforts of all of our surrounding units of a quick suppression of the fire," he said. "It all worked really well."

No injuries were reported.

East Valley, Tri-Lake, Fort Harrison, and Montana City fire departments all responded along with the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff's Office.


(1st Report,8:33 p.m.) Emergency crews are responding to a structure fire in East Helena.

Several fire trucks are on scene near 2nd Street and Groschell Street.

It is not known whether there are any injuries.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
