Q2 Weather: Warmer weekend, but still a chance of snow

Posted: Updated:

Temperatures over the weekend will warm and snow will melt, but there is also the chance of a little additional snow.

Some areas of localized morning fog will give way to more sunshine Friday afternoon. Southwesterly winds will increase down the east slopes of the Rockies ahead of a cold front.

Mostly sunny Friday afternoon with highs mainly in the upper 30s to mid 40s. Areas east of Billings could even reach upper 40s to low 50s.

A Pacific cold front will move across the area late Friday into Saturday morning. This brings a good chance of snow into the mountains and a quick shot of rain or snow across the plains.

The best chance of precipitation from Billings to the west is Friday night through Saturday morning, with the system working through Eastern Montana into the Dakotas through Saturday afternoon.

Overall, look for high temperatures in the mid to lower 40s Friday through Sunday and overnight temperatures mainly in the 20s for the lower elevations.

Billings forecast:

Friday… Mostly sunny with a high near 43. Southwest breeze 5 to 10 mph.

Friday night… Cloudy to mostly cloudy with isolated snow showers, especially after midnight. About 27 for a low.

Veterans Day… Scattered snow showers in the morning, with clearing in the afternoon to a partly cloudy sky. Around 41 for the high.
