Woman found dead in Billings West End home

Posted: Updated:

BILLINGS - A woman was found dead in her home on the West End on Tuesday.

According to Billings Police Sgt. Riley Finnegan, the woman in her 50s died over the weekend in a house fire on the 3500 block of Lynn Avenue. He added that police do not suspect foul play.

While police are still investigating, Finnegan noted the fire likely extinguished on its own, possibly from a lack of oxygen.

An autopsy will be performed to determine how the woman died.

The woman failed to show to a weekly breakfast with friends on Sunday morning, police said. Police were called to perform a welfare check and the woman's body was found.

She has not been identified.

The fire caused $75,000 in damage, including heavy smoke damage throughout home, Billings firefighters said. Three cats also died in the blaze.
