Death toll climbs, Montana leaders comment on Las Vegas massacre

Montana political leaders added their voices Monday morning condemning the mass murders at a Las Vegas concert.

Officials said the death toll in the Sunday night shooting has grown to nearly 60, and the number of injured was increased to about 500.  

Authorities said the incident is the worst mass shooting in the nation's history. 

U.S. Senator Jon Tester issued the following statement in response to the shooting:

“There are no words that can capture the devastating loss, overwhelming anger and deep sorrow that we all feel today. In times of horrific tragedy, the strength of this nation is tested, and it's my hope that we can rise together, lift our neighbors up, and emerge stronger with healing in our hearts.”

 Montana Attorney General Tim Fox released the following statement regarding Sunday night’s shooting in Las Vegas:

“The horror of Sunday night will be forever burned into this country’s memory. While acts of evil test our resolve, we must stand firm against hate and violence, and join together to combat those who wish to harm our citizens. My thoughts and prayers go out to those who’ve been injured, as well as to the friends and loved ones of those who lost their lives.”

Gov. Steve Bullock issued a proclamation ordering flags lowed to half-staff:

As requested by the President of the United States, I hereby order all flags flown in the State of Montana to be displayed at half-staff on Monday, October 2nd, 2017 until sunset on Friday, October 6th, 2017, out of respect for the victims and the families of one of the deadliest shootings in modern American history, occurring in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 1st, 2017.
