A smooth takeoff for American Airlines in Billings.
June was the first month of operation for the Billings to Dallas non-stop flight.
The airline was able to fill over 80 percent of the seats which turned out to be better than expected.
That's important because the City of Billings is committed to a revenue guarantee for the first year American flies into Billings.
Airport Operations Director Kevin Ploehn says that was easily met in the first month, and July and August have similar booking numbers.
Ploehn is confident the fall quarter of September through November will be strong.
The wild card is the winter months of December through February.
