Fairview man killed, passenger injured in weekend rollover crash

Posted: Updated:

A Fairview man is dead after his pickup rolled early Sunday morning.

Montana Highway Patrol reported the Dodge Dakota pickup was northbound on Highway 162 north of Fairview.

The pickup failed to negotiate a left turn and overturned, landing upside down in an irrigation canal.

The 27-year-old driver and a 27-year-old male, also from Fairview, were not wearing seatbelts.

Both were taken to the Sidney hospital. The driver was pronounced dead while the passenger was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol is suspected to be a factor, according to the crash report.

This marked the 92nd fatal crash on Montana roadways this year.

Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated the passenger was a woman. The passenger was a man who was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. This story has been updated.
