Farmers market starts 33rd year in Billings

Posted: Updated:

Some local growers can start harvesting fruit and vegetables this time of year, just in time to bring the produce to the farmers market.

Musical entertainment added to the first day of the Yellowstone Valley Farmers Market, now in its 33rd year.

Most of the vendors bring produce and food from within 250 miles, which the market considers local.

The farmers and customers appreciate the quality and tradition of the farmers market.

"The variance of product at the market and also just the fact that, it's a social thing. people really like coming down for it,” said Shelli Gayvert, board president for the farmers market.

“And the fresh produce. the fresh food. People have desire for that. And that doesn't seem to ebb off which is nice. Seems to just keep growing," she said.

The Yellowstone Valley Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. through October 7.
