A cow is still at large after escaping its owners on Thursday afternoon.

The cow escaped her owners Thursday afternoon while being transported from a veterinarian office.

The Helena Police Department reported that initially four cows escaped, but three were captured right away.

The fourth cow was originally seen on Custer Avenue and Benton Avenue she then fled to the Bill Roberts Golf Course where she was seen on the front nine.

Three employees and Animal Control tried to corral the animal but were unsuccessful.

She made her way to Last Chance Gulch and then back to Benton Avenue where she crossed Euclid Avenue towards Mount Helena.

Later in the evening, the owners asked for the public’s help in capturing the animal.

People with horses were asked to meet at Granite Street on the far west side of town to hopefully capture the cow.

The search was called off Thursday evening and is set to resume on Friday morning.
