Overview of the Billings Mayor candidates so far

From a state legislator who heads the Montana Republican Party to a singer who also is a self-described psychic, it's safe to say voters will have a wide range of candidates to chose from in the upcoming mayoral race.

Current Billings Mayor Tom Hanel is term limited and will leave the post at the end of this year.

So far, six candidates have put their names in the race.

The deadline to file is Monday, June 19.

Here is a look at all six in alphabetical order:

Angela Cimminothe latest to file, an 8 year member of the Billings City Council. Her goals have to do with public safety and transportation.

Bill Cole: a Billings attorney who is involved with both the Yellowstone County Planning Board and the Billings Chamber of Commerce.

Danielle Egnew: a singer,songwriter and describes herself as a psychic medium. She is also an LGBT activist.

Jeff Essman: a state representative and also the chairman of the Montana Republican party. Essman wants to get to work on infrastructure projects while avoiding new taxes.

Randy Haffer: the first to file, a local architect who hopes to update the over-40-year-old city zoning ordinance.

Danny Sandefura realtor who's main goals include supporting law enforcement and dealing with the city's transient population.

The Mayor's job comes with a prestigious title, an office in City Hall but only a yearly salary of $9,600.

The City primary election is scheduled September 12 when the race will be narrowed down to two.

The general election is slated for November 7.
