DARBY -

It was back to the slopes over the weekend for sled dogs and their handlers from all over the region.

The Darby Dog Derby returned to the trails around Lost Trail Pass for the tenth year in a row.

The derby, sponsored by the Montana Mountain Mushers and the Bitterroot Mushers, brought in mushers from Montana and Idaho to compete on the high routes along the border.

The Gibbons Pass Road parking lot just above Lost Trail Pass served at the race headquarters and there was even a pee wee race for kids on Saturday.

The derby consisted of Skijoring races and dog team races on both days.
