NINEMILE -

Two Washington state residents driving on Interstate 90 near Nine Mile are living proof that buckling a seat belt can save a life.

A man and a woman were in a four-door Subaru that blew a tire and then catapulted off a cliff just before 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Initial reports said the fall was down a 60 foot cliff. The two got out of the upside down vehicle on their own.

There were no serious injuries from the crash with the pair suffering just some minor cuts and bruises.

The Subaru was totaled but authorities say that no one was hurt because both passengers were wearing their seat belts.
