First-year Rocky Mountain College football coach Jason Petrino recently bolstered his roster with the signing of 13 high school players, all from Montana, to Frontier Conference Letters of Intent.

Eight defensive players will begin their college careers when the Battlin’ Bears open fall camp August 5.

Three linebackers lead the group as Petrino signed Gabe Broughton (5-feet-11, 170 pounds, Bigfork), Ian Nick (5-11, 155, Lincoln) and River Taylor (6-0, 220, Billings Senior).

Defensive secondary needs were addressed with the signing of Gavin Compton (5-10, 178, Billings West), Dallas Mack (6-1, 190, Huntley Project) and Gavin Spinler (5-10, 180, North Star).

Taylor Faw (5-11, 230, Billings Christian) and Josh Triplett (6-1, 195, Hamilton) will add depth to the defensive front.

Laurel’s Brandon Connolly (5-11, 275) is listed as a future offensive lineman, while Billings Senior product Sam Sparks (6-0, 190) and Malta’s Allen Williamson (6-0, 200) join the Battlin’ Bears as running backs.

Two athletes with positions to be determined round out the list in Columbus’ Kiefer McKay (5-10, 155) and Gunnar Nelson (6-1, 215) of Red Lodge.

More signings will be announced shortly.
