Rocky celebrates 134th graduation

BILLINGS -

Education gives the confidence to take risk and do new things.

That's one of the messages from the commencement speaker at Rocky Mountain College Saturday afternoon.

Rocky held its 134th Commencement Ceremony in a packed Fortin Education Center gym.

Students from Montana, out of state, Canada, Ireland and Sweden graduated with the class of 2016.

Commencement Speaker Jake Jabs told students to be honest, social media savvy and have a passion for what you do.

A couple students also had some graduation advice.

"Let us never ever forget the tremendous sacrifices that our families, forefathers and fellow citizens have made on our behalf," said Larry Whitaker, President's Cup Honoree.

"I encourage you, RMC class of 2016, to find your next adventure," said Amanda Webb, also a President's Cup Honoree. "And know that your experience at Rocky Mountain College will help along the way."

"Going forward, and hoping the education will reward you and I think that you'll find a lot of times the things you graduate in is not the job that's waiting for you," said Jake Jabs, the commencement speaker. "But I think your education gives you confidence to try other things."

Jabs, American Furniture Warehouse President & CEO,  uses himself as an example of finding work in another field.

He graduated from Montana State College in 1952, with a degree in vocational agriculture, sold guitars and electronics, and opened a furniture business in 1968.
