Rocky volleyball ranked No. 5 nationally

The Rocky Mountain College volleyball team begins the season ranked No. 5 in the NAIA Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll released Tuesday.

The Battlin’ Bears also finished last season ranked fifth. They set a school record compiling 32 wins against only three losses and spent 11 straight weeks ranked No. 1 in the country.

Rocky opens the season against The Masters College, Thursday, Aug. 20, at the Biola University Summer Slam Tournament, followed by a match with host Biola, which is preseason ranked No. 2. The following day Rocky draws Westmont College and Vanguard University (No. 8).

Defending national champion Park (Mo.) opens the season ranked No. 1. The No. 3 team is Missouri Baptist, followed by Viterbo (Wis.).

The Battlin’ Bears play their first home match Sept. 1 against crosstown rival Montana State Billings.
