Update: Teen killed in early morning shooting in Billings

Update 12:52 p.m.

Police said the victim did not live at the residence where he was shot.

Lt. Jeremy House said a 17-year-old boy was questioned by police regarding the shooting, but "was released pending further investigation."

Further details of how the shooting may have occurred was not provided.

House could not answer where the victim was shot, if he was shot more than once, and did not identify either teen involved.

Police worked to clear the scene by 1 p.m. and House said more information would be available on Monday.


A 15-year-old boy is dead after an early morning shooting on the 200 block of Alderson Avenue in the residential area of downtown, police said.

A suspect was taken into custody in connection with the teen's death and is being questioned by detectives.

Police and medical crews responded to the situation around 2:30 a.m. with sirens blaring.

Police said the boy was transported to St. Vincent hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later due to the gunshot wound.

Authorities did not say where he was shot.
