Rescue Mission celebrates Easter, serves special meal

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS -

On Easter Sunday, the Montana rescue mission gave the gift of meals Sunday afternoon feeding hundreds and starting with a special service.

"My prayer and hope for all of you here today is that you will turn your life over the Christ," the rescue mission's program director Glenn Fournier said as he gave the Easter sermon.

Chapel is normally in the evenings, but Sunday, it was held before the meal in the afternoon.

Volunteers delivered meals to 130 and served about 300 at the mission.

The rescue mission wants the people who come to dinner to also hear about Easter.

"Easter's important for all Christians," Perry Robert executive director for the mission. "It's resurrection day. The Easter message for people that are homeless and poor is especially important. Christ was a ministry to the poor and it's a ministry of hope and so, at Easter, we just really underscore the message of hope for our future."

Roberts said the rescue mission's Easter dinner is its third biggest, behind Thanksgiving and Christmas.
