Jay Kohn is KTVQ's Assistant News Director and co-anchors the 5:30 and 10 p.m. weekday newscasts. He joined the Q2 news team in October of 1998, moving from our sister station KXLF TV in Butte where Jay served as news director and main anchor.
In 2005, Jay was selected Montana's Broadcaster of the Year by the Montana Broadcasters Association. In 2004, he anchored and produced Montana's TV program of the year, "Wild Montana."
Jay's news career in Montana dates back more than thirty years. His career highlights include covering the inauguration of President George W. Bush in 2001 from Washington D.C., and reporting live from Yellowstone National Park during the devastating 1988 wild fires.
In 1987, Jay spent a year in Washington D.C. working as a Congressional Fellow for Wyoming Congressman Dick Cheney and Colorado Senator Tim Wirth.
Jay graduated with honors from the University of Montana in 1976 with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism. He was born and raised in Billings, graduating from Billings Senior High School in 1970.
Jay and his wife Judy have three children and one grandchild.
Jay is an avid sports fan and enjoys skiing, fishing, golf, and disc golf.
