The primary goal of Big Sky Senior Services is to help senior citizens remain living in their homes as long as possible, safe and free from abuse. Three programs are utilized to accomplish this goal: Senior Helping Hands - provides homemaking, nursing and home care services to over 100 senior citizens who have lost some of their physical and mental abilities due to age and/or illness and are no longer able to perform daily living tasks. Prevention of Elder Abuse - offers case management, community education and a representative payee program. Friends Volunteer - gives support and companionship to homebound seniors by matching them with volunteers to serve as a phone friend, visiting friend or lend a hand friend. There are a growing number of senior citizens in Yellowstone County who live alone and are experiencing a decline in their vision which prevents them from keeping up with mail and other written correspondence including utility, health and other miscellaneous bills. Western Security Bank donated $10,000 towards the purchase of several portable magnifiers and large screen monitors to provide assistance to the clients of Big Sky Senior Services in an effort to help seniors maintain their homes and their way of life.
