CODY, Wyo. - The PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour returns to Cody on Saturday, June 30 to kick off the 93rd annual Buffalo Bill Cody Stampede Rodeo. The Cody-Yellowstone Xtreme Bulls tour stop is featured as part of the PRCA's nationally-televised programming on Great American Country (GAC) - and it offers a "Fourth of July Fight" among the leading PRCA bull riders.
Forty of the world's top bull riders will converge on the Cody Stampede Park to take their shot at the prestigious Cody-Yellowstone Xtreme Bulls title. The showdown will include the reigning World Champion and defending Cody-Yellowstone Xtreme Bulls Champion: Shane Proctor, of Grand Coulee, Wash.; 2007 World Champion Wesley Silcox, Santaquin, Utah; and four of the top five in the current world standings - No. 1 Cody Teel, Kountze, Texas; No. 2 Cody Samora, Cortez, Colo., No. 4 Kanin Asay, Powell, Wyo. and No. 5 Trey Benton III, Rock Island, Texas.
Four other Top 10 leaders are scheduled to compete in Cody: No. 7 Trevor Kastner, Ardmore, Okla.; No. 8 Tate Stratton, Kellyville, Okla.; No. 9 Tyler Willis, Wheatland, Wyo., and No. 10 Ardie Maier, Timber Lake, S.D.
The livestock stars of the Cody-Yellowstone Xtreme Bulls event will include a number of rank PRCA bulls, including:
• "447 Bailey Hou" - Mo Betta Rodeo Company. Maury Tate's bull has a 100 percent buck-off rate in 2012 with an average score of 22.25. J.W. Harris rode this bull at the 2011 Wrangler NFR for 88 points.
• "641 Thomas the Train" - Jeff Robinson Rodeo Company. Robinson's bull is a solid performer; Cody Whitney scored 89.50 on this bull at the 2012 Okeechobee Xtreme Bulls event.
• "115 Mr. Slim" - another Jeff Robinson Company bull. This bull has 74 percent buck-off rate; was ridden at the 2011 Wrangler NFR by L.J. Jenkins for 87.5 points.
All 40 riders will compete in a long-go on June 30, beginning at 7 p.m. (MT), and the top 12 will be brought back for the finals, where the Cody-Yellowstone Xtreme Bulls champion will be crowned based on the highest total score.
The payout for the Cody-Yellowstone Xtreme Bulls event is $50,000. Monies won at PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour stops count towards the 2012 PRCA World Standings, which determine qualifiers for the Dec. 6-15 Wrangler NFR.
