Wildfire NW of Helena named 'Corral Fire'

HELENA - Fire officials are using the name "Corral fire" to refer to the wildfire burning northwest of Helena.

The fire was initially reported at 4:16pm off Franklin Mine Road in the Scratchgravel Hills area.

The Montana DNRC is managing the blaze in unified command with Lewis & Clark County.

Three DNRC helicopters are currently working the blaze and two airtankers are ordered, along with additional crews and equipment.

Information on evacuations and closures is available through Lewis & Clark County Disaster & Emergency Services, which has activated their Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

The number for the EOC is 406-447-1605.

An evacuation center has been set up at the First Assembly of God Church, 2210 Dodge Avenue.
