CODY, WY - Deputies with the Park County Sheriff's Office conducted a welfare check on a 65-year-old Cody man, whose family members hadn't heard from since June 2011. Upon entering the man's home on Tuesday, they discovered the man was deceased. An investigation suggests the man passed away around October 18, 2011. The man's name has not been released.

His sister-in-law requested the welfare check. When deputies arrived at his home, located 25 miles west of Cody, they found the doors locked and the curtains shut. The deputies could see through the curtains and observed the remains of a man inside of the home.

Neighbors said they didn't notice anyone around the residence for over a year. After checking with the post office, deputies learned his post office box had been shut down and the last time he picked up his mail was more than 8 months ago.

The man's body was turned over to Park County Coroner Tim Power. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, October 17, 2012. There are no signs of foul play.
