UPDATE Billings- The Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office will not be releasing new information regarding a Saturday morning helicopter crash north of Shepherd until early next week.
The crash claimed the life of the helicopter pilot, an adult male, who was the only person on board.
Yellowstone County Sergeant Dave Muhlbeier says he expects to be able to release the identity of the pilot, as well as the cause of death, after an autopsy is conducted.
It's expected that the autopsy will likely take place on Tuesday.
BILLINGS- One man was killed when a helicopter he was piloting crashed north of Shepherd on Saturday morning.
According to the Shepherd Volunteer Fire Department, a crash happened around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday off of CA Road near Lambert Trail Road near the high tension power lines outside of Shepherd, Montana.
At this time there is no word on if the power lines played a role in the helicopter crash.
The Shepherd Volunteer Fire Department said it fought a fire self-contained to the crash before handing the investigation of the fire over to the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office.
