UPDATE - BILLINGS - A fire burning in Blue Creek is now contained. Crews remain on-scene mopping up as of 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
UPDATE - BILLINGS - High winds are making things tough for fire crews on the scene of a grass fire just east of Briarwood in the Blue Creek area. The flames are burning in the vicinity of several homes.
According to the fire crews, none of those homes are currently in danger.
Blue Creek firefighters are fighting the flames along with help from Billings Fire and the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.
Allegedly, the fire began in a tree and has burned a playhouse.
The Billings Police Department says that additional resources have not been requested for the fire, which may be a sign that the fire crews have gained the upper hand.
Additionally, a home and land owner near the fire told Q2 he saw flames moving quickly over a hill about 45 minutes after the fire began, but crews had the blaze extinguished quickly.
Currently, puffs of smoke can be seen billowing from the north ridge of the hills where the fire is taking place.
High winds are believed to be giving the fire crews trouble as they battle the fire.
We'll have more information right here as it becomes available.
