BILLINGS- Sergeant Scott Conrad of the Billings Police Department said the Billings man who drove his car into the side of the west end Walmart on King Avenue Tuesday evening is being charged with felony criminal Endangerment and DUI.
The 32-year-old driver Steven Barnhart , from Billings, and a juvenile passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash and were sent to the hospital.
There were two other people in the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire (registered in Yellowstone County) when it crashed, a juvenile and an adult, but neither sustained injury.
Conrad said witnesses described the car as moving at a high rate of speed before it jumped a sidewalk and rammed into a fenced off area outside of the Walmart which is used for outdoor displays and large storage items.
The car ended up ramming into an exterior wall of the store, and part of the car penetrated the building causing extensive damage.
A few of the witnesses told Conrad it appeared that the driver may have been passed out before he lost control of the vehicle.
However, police report that no one outside or inside the Walmart were injured by the impact.
