MISSOULA - Western Montana high school students are teaming up with UM grad students for some serious one-on-one math mentoring this fall.
The Missoula Math Circle project is an afterschool activity to help high school students with topics which may not be covered in their own classes.
UM Math Professor, Jenny McNulty says they hope to mentor students outside of Missoula county via Skype.
She says the program is all about getting high school kids excited about math for the first time or maybe once again, "I hope to rekindle that excitement of math and to be able to play with numbers and look for patterns. And just that fun that math is."
The free sessions are funded by a grant through the Mathematical Association of America.
The first session begins on October 6th.
