The owner of a pickup truck is likely to face trespassing charges after he got stuck in Grant Creek in Missoula County and had to leave his vehicle behind.
Sheriff's deputies were called to the location early Monday morning when the truck was discovered off Expressway on the west side of Missoula.
Deputies say it appeared the driver of the Ford Ranger had gone down into the creek bottom on a small dirt track, but had gotten stuck in the water when he tried to turn around.
Officers say the truck had been locked up and left behind, but wasn't damaged.
It took a pair of tow trucks and some creative winching to get the truck out of the water and around the trees before it could be hauled back up the steep bank.
However, the problem isn't so simple for the owner.
It turns out the creek at that point is within the 200-foot right of way that runs along the Montana Rail Link tracks that run west of Missoula, so deputies say it's likely the owner will face trespassing charges once he's reunited with his truck.
