Three people die in crash on Highway 87

Traffic is no longer being diverted at Shepherd-Acton Road. Northbound traffic is able to use the southbound lane to get around the accident scene.

BILLINGS - Three people have died in an accident, inovlving a semi-truck vs. car accident on Highway 87 between mile marker 15 & 16 - near the turn off to the Billings Motor Speedway,

The Montana Highway Patrol says a car and jeep were heading north on 87. A truck crossed the center line and hit the car and the jeep.

Two people in the jeep died an man in the white car died. A woman and a baby were also in the white car.

Q2 photographer Jesse Kester reports that traffic is being diverted around the scene of the crash.

Highway 87 remains closed to thru traffic. Traffic is being diverted at the intersection with the Shepherd/Acton Road.

Kester says emergency crews on the scene include personnel from Shepherd Fire Department, Billings Fire, Montana Highway Patrol, Billings Police, Yellowstone County Sheriff, Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks and a Help Flight Helicopter from St, Vincent Healthcare.

The crash sparked a small grass fire on the east side of Highway 87 - near site of the accident.
