BILLINGS - The Alberta Bair Theater sold out the Nutcracker Ballet this weekend with nearly 3,000 of all ages attending the annual Thanksgiving weekend event.
Local ballet and choir students shared the stage with the San Diego Ballet, and the Billings Symphony Orchestra to showcase one of the most popular ballets for the holiday season.
The ballet featured more than 100 local dancers, and some of those local young dancers are playing lead characters such as Clara, the main character who receives the nutcracker as a gift which her brother Fritz breaks.
"We have a lot of young families coming, some seeing the nutcracker for the first time, some seeing their brother or sister on stage, " stated Billings Symphony Orchestra Director Anne Harrigan. "It's so exciting because this is a very professional production and to have so many of our local kids, including the character Clara, performing. It's a really honor for them."
If you missed the Nutcracker this weekend, the Alberta Bair Theatre has a few other Christmas themed events coming up.
The Miracle on 34th Street takes place on December 1st, and the Messiah Festival, which is free to the public, is on December 2nd.
