It's becoming a regular time slot for President Obama: 11 a.m. Eastern Time, when he'll have another press conference on the status of debt ceiling negotiations. There will be no White House negotiations today in order to give all sides a chance to discussion ideas with their rank-and-file.

UK-Phonehacking-Scandal

The FBI is now investigating whether British tabloids illegally spied on any Americans. Today, the woman in charge of the newspapers under investigation resigned from News Corporation. Rebekah Brooks says she has become a distraction to the company.

Afghanistan-Drawdown

The first part of the U.S. drawdown from Afghanistan is underway. About 650 soldiers left this week. By the end of the year, 10,000 troops are supposed to be out.

Florida-Anthony-Defamation

Casey Anthony gets out of jail on Sunday, and officials won't say a word about how it will happen. So far, there are no plans for police to provide her with special security. Anthony already is facing two civil lawsuits related to the lies she told during the investigation into her daughter's disappearance.

Consumer-Prices

U.S. consumer prices went down in June by a fifth of a percent. For the year, inflation is at 3.6 percent.
