THAILAND - An elephant camp in the northern city of Chiang Mai attempted to attract visitors with elephant shows featuring the ongoing Euro 2012 football tournament.

Pachyderm performers in the Mae Taman elephant camp in Chiang Mai's Mae Taeng district played with a large football and did "penalty kicks" -a show that could attract laughter and applause from Thai and foreign tourists. Each of the elephants had the national flag of a country participating in the European football tournament painted on its foreheads and sides.

Some of the elephants drew with their trunks the national flags of the participating countries, as well as the flags of the teams expected to win, including Germany. The three paintings by the elephants were later auctioned to the tourists.
