GREAT FALLS - The Great Falls Police Department has confirmed that they have made an arrest in the alleged assault of an 11-year-old girl.

Police report that the suspect is a juvenile male, but have not yet released his name. The pending charges against the suspect include two felony counts of sexual intercourse without consent, one felony count of aggravated assault, and one felony count of tampering with evidence.

The arrest stems from a report an alleged sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl who was walking home from school on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the girl had just separated from some friends when the suspect approached her from behind and stole her hat. She chased him into the alley where he reportedly assaulted her physically and sexually.

Authorities have not said what led them to the suspect but say that "...there are strong indicators that this is the subject we have been looking for." The reported attack happened around 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
