BILLINGS - Big Sky State Game's Summer Biathlon and Mountain Bike Biathlon will heat up July 15 at the Bohart Ranch near Bozeman.
The Summer Biathlon - modeled after the traditional winter biathlon - was introduced to the Big Sky State Games in 2005. Featuring three runs, totaling 5K, and two shooting rounds, the Summer Biathlon includes three divisions; Open, Elite, and Adaptive. All new competitors will be required to attend a mandatory safety clinic held prior to the event at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 15. Summer Biathlon is under the direction of Commissioner Tom Malee.
Mountain Bike Biathlon has a 1:00 p.m. start time on July 15. The Mountain Bike Biathlon covers a distance of 12km and consists of three biking sections and two shooting rounds. All new participants must attend the safety clinic that begins at 11:30 a.m. on July 15. Mountain Bike Biathlon is under the direction of Commissioner Clarissa Werre.
On Saturday, July 14 the course will be available from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for participants from both events for course orientation and shooting practice. The registration deadline for these two events is July 13, for $22, however onsite registration will be accepted the day of the competition with a registration fee of $32.
