A structure fire in the Rogers Pass area off of Montana Highway 200 quickly spread to the nearby forest on Monday morning, and firefighters from several jurisdictions are responding, according to Paula Short with the Montana Department of Natural Resources & Conservation.

The Joe's Mountain fire is near mile marker 95 on Montana Highway 200 and was reported at 7 a.m. and has already spread to about 43 acres.

Short says that firefighters from several counties, the U.S. Forest Service and the Montana DNRC are responding to the scene as are two helicopters and a hotshot crew.

Fire managers will share aerial resources with the Mission Road Fire near Wolf Creek, Short added.

The cause of the fire and condition of the structure are unknown.

The fire is burning in timber and grass.
