COLUMBUS, MT - Stillwater Mining Company says its production of palladium and platinum decreased last year as compared to the previous year.
The company announced today production had decreased about eight and a half percent from 2009 to 2010.
Stillwater mined 485,100 ounces in 2010.
In 2009, Stillwater mined 529,900 ounces.
The company attributes the decrease to smaller realized ore grades, or less concentration of palladium and platinum in the mineable ore deposit.
Stillwater Chair and CEO Frank McAllister says he's encouraged by the daily productivity.
He says Stillwater will mine where it has stronger ore grades and develop infrastructure in 2011.
