BILLINGS - St. Vincent Healthcare has completed the first phase in an extremely robust remodeling plan of the entire Orthopedic Center of Excellence.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was today for the Joint Replacement Center which is to provide patients and their caregivers a home-like experience with room to maneuver in those first critical hours of healing after surgery.
The rooms have nearly doubled in size providing room for family members to stay the night there with the patients. There are large comfortable seating areas and a large therapy room where patients can support one another during the rehabilitative process.
The nurses and staff are looking forward to the changes that will allow them to better care for the patients.
"The remodeling will help in cutting our time so that we can increase that patient care time. That way we're not running back and forth to get supplies or we're not worried about going to that central nursing area to chart when we can actually do that in the rooms. The computers in every room have vital signs monitors, and there are now nursing pods so that we're really accessible to patients and family members so that the care increases even more than we already have it," said RN Gina Zuech.
The Joint Rehabilitation Center will welcome their first patients Monday, June 30th.
